Hi all,
I'm new to the site so am unsure if this topic has been covered already. I am after some help on a recent IBS diagnosis that I have been given.

Im 21 years old and have always had a bit of a nervous stomach. Currently I am sitting my final exams as well as moving back home upon completion of my degree (studied in a different place and having to pack my life back up)

In the mornings only I wake up feeling iffy and have to have a BM pretty soon after waking. This is loose but still generally formed just comes out very quickly with little effort.
This has only been happening over the last 3 or so weeks and was initially once every few days and now happens every day at roughly the same time. After the BM I usually feel very anxious about leaving the house in case it happens again.

Im just wondering if anyone has experienced this? and whether or not you think it will go away once my life has settled back down? or if this is going to have to be something I live with for the rest of my life.

Thanks!

Hi Emily,
Its really hard to say what your guts will do in the future.

I was diagnosed with IBS about 10 years ago. I probably had it for 5 years before that. At that time my main complaints were very intense cramping with gas, and diarrhea. A year after I was diagnosed all of my symptoms went away until I got pregnant 3 years ago. Now my symptoms are intense gas and moderate constipation.

So, I'm not sure that there is a "normal" progression of IBS. Many things can play into your symptoms too. I have noticed a correlation between certain foods and definitely stress/strong emotions and mine.

Some people's IBS seems to be both diet and stress while for others it can be one or the other causing the IBS grief.

It's tedious, but I was able to discover where my IBS stems from....my GI (that I see for my Crohn's disease) sent me to a dietitian and she had me do the low FODMAP, low fructose diet for 6 weeks (then the slow reintroduction of the food groups we took out for the first 6 weeks, there was no change or affect while being on the diet, therefore we were able to determine that my IBS is stress driven...daily mediation practice, gut physiotherapy and daily use of Lax a day (suggested by my GI) has found me some relief and possibly slowly getting more control over it. At least it's something positive.

Best of luck to you!

All diahrrea starts with yeast. Cut everything with yeast for a week and you will see the difference and solution. Beer also is full of brewers yeast

World Healing, not all diarrhea starts with yeast and I would appreciate if you would stop stating this. You've been all over this board stating that. This is always not the case. Where are your stats?
