I know I've posted before about mucus in the stool.  I also understand that it is a symptom of IBS.  However, has anyone only passed just mucus and not had a BM?  And is it more thin or clumpy?  I'm just really worried since I've just been recently diagnosed with IBS.  Please anything to put my mind at ease! sad

knm,

Yes. There were plenty of times that all I would pass was mucus. about the thin or clumpy, I am not sure what you mean by thin....mine would be anything from thick clumps of mucus mixed with stool, to just clear yellowish blobs.

Hope this helps

Yes, mostly when I was IBS-C and had a hard time having a bm. I would end up in the bathroom for at least 10-15 minutes and only pass mucus. It still triggers those sphincter rectal muscles if it is thick enough and will make you want to go to the bathroom.
