I had the test done last week. He did a ultra sound and blood test and he told me the blood test was for Lupus. Well His nurse finally called me and told me that they found fat in my liver but my gallbladder looked ok. But that he wanted to run another test where they put an iv in your arm and run x-rays for the gallbladder. Then the next day she calls and tells me that he thinks that I have idiopathic abdominal pain and prescribed amitriptyline. I called another gi and they want $200.00 up front because I have no insurancel. This morning I woke up with a white tongue and my throat is soar and stomach is really hurting just feel like **** . I do not no where to turn now. Anyone with answers please respond.   They think that it is in my head!!! But i know that it is not!!!!

I'm sorry Flower.  When they talk about idiopathic abdominal pain or functional abdominal pain, they are not necessarily telling you it's in your head, but it means they don't know why you are experiencing it.  Pain is pain; where it comes from is not always clear, but it is clear you feel it.  I know how frustrating it is when there are no solid answers.  Sounds like they want to do a HIDA scan with CCK stimulation to check for how well your gallbladder is functioning, and it's a good test to have done if the ultrasound is negative.

Hang in there.  Most of us have been through the same run-around.  Not having insurance must be a killer, though - are you dealing with that okay?

Hey I dont know alot about the whole gallbladder/liver things, but your symptoms sound like strep throat. Or the mock strep throat, which doesnt involve a fever, but feels exactly like strep. I would know, Ive had strep over 20 times. (no joke...I just recently had my tonsils out haha) so if that icky stuff doesnt go away, go see your doctor! Hope you get better :)

Thanks for posting. I feel a little better today. I find that when I feel good enough to get out of the house for a couple of hours, I pay for it for two to three days!

Sarita they were going to do that test then called back and told me about the idiopathic ap. So I guess that they are not going to do it. Everyone that I talk to says that they are blowing me off because I have no insurance!  Which is a bummer since I had just switched jobs. Got caught in the middle.

Blondie, I don't think that it was strep, I feel better today. The white tongue is do to the thrush I get. That can be very painful. I just hope that I feel good on Christmas! It seems that everytime something important comes up I am down.

Thanks for your post!
