QUESTION---is more fiber good for clear water stools or is fiber better for constipation (which I don't have)?
What is good to stop excessive gas, stomach gurgling?? That seems to be the real issue.
I have had episodes of stools with lots of mucus, sometimes followed by episodes of passing sudden pure mucus. Other times I have had sudden wet gas or having to get to the bathroom as I know I will pass of clear water with the excess gas/with or without mucus. The clear episodes can last (several times a day) for a couple days. They come on when I feel a need to pass gas. If I DID NOT have all the excess gas, I would not have the liquid come out.

Anyway, this usually always goes away and things seem normal again. It first started with the mucus in 2014. This year has had more of the water events. I THINK ice cream and eating multiple packs of cheese crackers triggers this, as I saw symptoms after. I am also under lots of stress off and on, which I feel relates to it.

Since most of the time I was doing okay, I put up with the flare ups from time to time. However, I am now having these excess gas and water events more often lately. I tried spinach and eliminated carbonated soda which seemed to really help. It came back, so I eliminated drinking tea (my substitute for soda) since I suspected caffeine may be an issue. Things went back and forth between being okay and not.

It started now with mushy stools, then the water events, starting to improve with some solid, back to water events, and starting to improve with some solid, then more water (several times a day) the past few days. When I stopped going as much I figured it was clearing up. The events usually would have cleared up by now. There has been some stress/emotional hurt going on that I try to ignore. I feel as though I am not that upset though, but maybe it is affecting me. Dunno since this issue has been on and off before the recent stress? Maybe the recent stress just made it worse this time?

In short, I wanted to increase fiber, but I am not eating veggies as I worry that may cause the gas. I have been eating more oatmeal. I think maybe switching from my favorite Pepsi made me drink too much fruit juice and Gatorade. Maybe its a fructose problem? I'm not sure what to put in my diet? Would Gatorade/Powerade cause the issue more? DOES THIS SOUND LIKE TYPICAL IBS????
