Hi all I’m New year but would really appreciate some ones advice or just a friendly ear...
For four weeks now I have had bloating pretty much most of the day starting about 2pm till I wake up in the morning. It feels tight, it’s physically bloated, I feel like if I broke wind it would help but I’m not breaking wind, also it’s rumbling and crampy too! It hurts so much I’m signed off work. When my stomach is bloated it feels very sensitive and sore. I have a heavy feeling in my bum that feels like I could go toilet but even when I do with laxatives it never feels completely empty. I have been on buscapan, peppermint capsules from Holland and barter, taken out dairy, I’ve been back and forth to the doctor my stool sample was negative and my bloods was my liver reading was just satisfactory which was the only anomaly. I cried and cried and begged for a specialist I am not waiting but don’t know how long that will be, I’m terrified if I’m honest it’s something more because really nothing is helping, sorry for the long rant, any help out there??? X

A consult with a gastroenterologist is something you need to discuss with your GP. Take a deep breath the symptoms you are having do not sound life threatening. You may or may not have IBS. To get rid of gas you need to walk. Walking will help get things moving. Avoid foods that produce a lot of gas.

Take care.

It sounds like a plausible IBS with constipation to me, as well. A gasteroenteroligist would be able to diagnose.

I don't think it is anything more and there is absolutely no reason to be terrified. It does NOT sound like an IBD, like I have, since you do not describe any blood being present within your bms.

Are you staying well hydrated? If you are not then that could be making it worse.

Have you considered adding a fiber supplement to your diet like metamucil to help move things along naturally? Might be worth a try. Fiber helps bulk and move stool along...

How are your exercise levels? Are you mostly sedentary or do you exercise a lot? Exercise can help move along stool.

No I don’t believe there is any blood my stool samples came back clear I only noticed some pink in my stool once but that’s all. Yes I drink lots of water and am urinating a lot. I eat well with home cooked food no jars and lots of fruit and veg and even more so since this recent episode. I exercised with dog walks and Keep fit videos but haven’t had the motivation with feeling pain recently. The worst pain and bloating comes in around 4pm and lasts for the night that’s when I’m at my worst sad I will look out for the Metamucil thank you very much for that. I don’t want to rely on laxatives to go to the toilet so I will definitely try that fibre supplement. Thank you again

Do you have any food intolerances? Have you tried going without dairy for a few weeks? Have you tried going without gluten for a few weeks? Just wondering if they may be contributing to your discomfort and bloating.

There's going to be a lot of trial-and-error, with no easy-button or instant-gratification. Hang in there, I know you'll get better in time. Just have patience and realize that solutions will take time and experimentation smile
