Hello all - I'm new to this forum and feeling desperate. Roughly 10 years ago I was diagnosed with ibs. When I was 12 I started bleeding every time I went to the bathroom and eventually couldn't go to the bathroom hardly at all. All that would appear was bloody white chunky mess. When I was 19 (I know I know - dumb dumb for waiting so long) I was referred to a GI specialist. After blood tests, colonoscopy and samples of tissue taken from my intestinal tract I was diagnosed with IBS.

I was pescribed some medicine that didn't do a darn thing and proceeded to live my life in bloody agony until the bleeding and white mess eventually stopped and my life became normal for about 5 glorious years. Rewind to about 5 months again and the bleeding and white chunks have returned. Keep in mind I never have abdominal pain or food sensitivity but when I start bleeding it goes on for years... bright red blood with blood clots and white discharge with occasional urgent need to visit the restroom and piss bloody/white cloudy mess out of my as.. you get the picture.

Now two days ago i developed a painfull lump really close to my bumh...
And it has since burst into a lovely hole on my arse.. its painful, weepy and just awful.

Please help me... does this sound like ibs to you? Because to me I just feel like something was missed.

I go see the doctor Tuesday (hopefully sooner if I can get in) so any recommendations/advice in the meantime would be so appreciated...

Please help me... does anyone else have this?

Not to scare you, but what you have described sounds like an abscess that has burst. If this were me I would go to ER now. The reason is infection & you should be on antibiotics now not waiting until Tuesday.

Take care.

Do you think that's what's been happening to me for all these years? :S

Thank you so much for responding. You're right. I shouldn't wait.

I really can't answer that question. I see in your title you say you have a fistula, when were you dx'd with a fistula? An abscess in that area is something anyone can get. Let us know what you find out in ER.

I assumed it was a fistula. The day it became hot and swore two days ago I became very ill. Unable to get warm and sweating so bad I'd soak through my nightie. I thought it was a ingrown hair and unrelated to the flu but the soreness is still there even after it ruptured and the pain and tenderness seems to reach deep inside my body.

When I do to the washroom it's the same white bloody gunk as was coming out of the wound.

My husband is taking me to urgent. I will keep you posted.

Blood tests taken. I've been referred to another GI. She is not convinced this is IBS either. Salt baths are still recommended and I am to go to the hospital if I get a fever.

Still no answers but at least I'm okay for now. Still throbbing pain at the sight of the abscess but much fuller now.

I'll see what my next specialist has to say.

It's likely Crohn's disease my doctor informed me and it is a fistula.

I see the specialist in a couple weeks to really see.

I am guessing this is your PCP saying this. Honestly, it sounds more like an abscess, but I am not a dr either. I have crohns disease & have some experience with fistulas. Very glad to read you will be seeing a new gi dr.

Take care.
