The last couple of weeks, I've learnt an awful lot about constipation. I have suffered all my life (I'm now 20) and only go once a week. I have a feeling I have a slow transit colon (colonic inertia). I suffer from awful health anxiety and started to learn about how chronic constipation can lead to a twisted colon (volvulus) which is dangerous and I'm so concerned this is going to happen. I also fear a bowel obstruction. I really don't have abdominal pain or anything. I have a feeling I'm going to need surgery if I have slow transit bc I read so much about it and nothing works for anyone and then surgery is needed sad Does anybody have any advice for slow transit constipation? I doubt my anxiety is any good for my constipation too, prob just makes it worse

Consider getting tested for celiac disease. 1 in 125 have it, but only 20% are actually diagnosed. You start with a simple blood test. Celiac disease can cause constipation (it slowed my intestinal transit time) and anxiety. In fact there are over 200 symptoms attributed to celiac disease.

Please go to a GI specialist and get checked out. The only thing that is going to ease your worries is finding out what is going on, and treating it. If you find out what it is, and why it's happening, maybe you can find something that will get you back on track. It's easy to read online and get anxiety, and think it's the worst case, but perhaps it's easily manageable.
