Hi. I've been on Acidophilus for about 2 months. I've just noticed on the container that it says to keep refridgerated. I've not been doing this. Would the good bacteria have died due to this, and been doing nothing?

Hi there Dracan,

Yes with alot of probiotics it does say on the container that you should keep mthem in the fridge. As it specifically says on the ones you've been taking to keep refridgerated i'm afraid most of the good bacteria have probably died off, the pills certainly aren't going to be effective as they should be and probably won't be having much of an effect on you

Sorry about that ..... sad

Dracan,
Roadtrip is right - you should get yourself some new pills.
Take care.

Hi. Thankyou both for your replies. I also emailed the company that make my Acidophilus (Quest), and they've just got back with the following ...

"We say on the label that it has to be refrigerated just in order to be
cautious that people to do not leave it under direct light or heat for
example by a radiator or stove as too much heat can kill the good
bacteria in the capsule. However you can put them in room temperature,
such a dry cupboard away from direct heat and sunlight. If this is your
case then you will not need to buy a new batch."

This is from a nutritionist at Quest. I might just get some more to be on the safe side though.
