newbie needs help!

eyes  Hello. Have been reading the forum and it sure has answered a whole bunch of questions. I have two questions I need help with. First I have IBS C and D! My questions is the lower abdomen cramping much like menstrual cramping? And I wonder if drinking asodoplis (spelling?) is a probiotic and should I always drink it or just occasionally? Thanks abunch!!!

I don't personally take probiotics yet so I can't give you any personal experience however many on the forum do and have had much success. I'm sure they will be here shortly to help you out. I just wanted to stop by and welcome you to Healing Well :)

Yes, probiotics should help, and yes you should take them always. Well, not forever but everyday for several months. They will definitely help regulate your intestinal function which will in turn help regulate your BM's (bowel movements). They won't fix your IBS or your BM's but they sure will help. If you do a search for probiotics you will find that they are highly recommended if you are on antibiotics, have just had food poisoning or are having (or just had) diarrhea. The probiotics will replenish your "good bacteria" that have just been flushed out.

Acidophillus is the correct spelling. I get tired of spelling it all the time so I usually spell it once in a message and then just put "acid." the rest of the time. :-)

And you can get it through milk, yogurt or pills. It caused me--and some others on here--gas cramps in the pill form, so you may want to start with the milk and yogurt and work your way up to the pills (which have a much high concentration).
