What medications are out there for us with IBS?  Some of us have D and some have C or both.  It seems as if I have water D, then plop, plop of regular stool the past two attacks I had.  Before I was D w/cramping which occurred maybe once or twice a year.  Then this past fall I went to C........hard stools, little balls.

Zelnorm.......did help w/gas, but not C.  Glycolax helped w/C, but gave me more gas.

What other meds are there for my kind of condition?

As far as I know, these are the only two prescription type medications that they have to treat C for now. I'm sure that there are all kinds of clinical trials going on on new meds but unfortunately that all takes a while to process. Of course there are OTC meds however I would suggest talking to your doctor before you put yourself on any kind of maintenance with these. One example would be Senna tablets. I have heard people say that drinking green tea once a day keeps them regular. It might just take a trip to the local drug store, writing down all they have in that section and discussing with your doctor.
