I had a sinus infection, and a bad toothache so the Dr. gave me Amoxicillian to kill the infection, and Vicodin for the toothache. Which was great for the pain, but man it stops you up pretty dang bad.

I swear broad spectrum antibiotics are the cause behind IBS.

So after three days I drank a ton of fiber suppliment and now things really hurt, wish I could take a vicodin, but that would only make things worse. Bla...I hate doctors.

I'm sorry to hear you're hurting so much; you might try 600-800 milligrams of ibuprofen for the pain if you can stomach it.  Ibuprofen works pretty well on that kind of pain and won't stop you up.  Vicodin does stop up most people, that's for sure.  As far as antibiotics - if it weren't for them, a lot of us would have died in childhood from "little" things like strep!

As far as doctors go...I know it's hard not to blame them when they can't fix every problem or have a contingency plan for when things go haywire, but we have to cut them some slack.  Most of the time they simply try their best and sometimes it's not good enough.  At least they were trying to help with your pain!  Hopefully that will get better for you very soon.

lol, I'm just venting you know. Dr.s cant do crap, they are after all just practicing; its all up to the researches to heal us, the docs are just the middle men.

I just know that Amox is a very broad anti biotic and thats what kills you flora, so you get all screwed up in the gut. But I am upping my doses of probiotics, and my yogurt intake, blaaa.

I agree that amoxicillin is so hard on our guts. I can take one pill of it, and get a yeast infection. I swear, every time I take an antibiotic, I lose more and more of my GI function, that I never get back. Sometimes I wonder if we could get by with a lower dose.
Maybe you could look into some natural anti-bacterial type of things.....like garlic and oregano?? And maybe you could look into sinus irrigating. I do think some of these other things might keep us from having to take antibiotics.
