Hi Everyone!

Well, I am back in the US (from Bolivia) and so far my first stool test came back negative for anything.  Hopefully I won't test positive for C-Diff again, because if I do I can't take anything for it.  I found out a week before I was to fly the the states that I'm pregnant!  So far, I've had two bad days with D, but for the most part I am only going twice a day.  The morning cramping is now accompanied by morning sickness, and I don't know which is worse!  I have gained 10 pounds already, which is good as I was looking pretty anorexic.  They are also testing my Igg's to see if my colon has an immune problem since I've had 4 bacterial infections in the last year.  I'll keep you all updated on my progress, and if you have any advice on what tests I should have (I had 2 colonoscopies in the past year - both normal) let me know.

I have been gourging on good American food and it hasn't been bothering me too much.  I am a little worried about going twice a day though.  I can tell that whatever I eat is out of me in less than 24 hours, so that can't be good for my absorption of nutrients.  Anyone else have IBS-D during a pregnancy?

Well im too young to be pregnant, but I take birth control, and I actually have no problem while im "pregnant" (which is what my birth control makes my body think or whatever)...its during my period that I get horrible D and gas and cramps. I would guess its normal to have it though with all the crazy hormones!!

Congratulations!!!  J

It's nice to hear that you are back in the states... We all know how eager you were to come "home."

Have you been checked for H. pylori (blood test)?  For an accurate parasite check you should probably have a couple stool tests done (a couple days apart from each other).

That's all I can think of at the moment since your scopes haven't shown anything.

Good luck with the C-diff... Hope you don't have it!

I know you were wanting to get pregnant, so that's good news! Could your latest gut run-off just be a type of "morning sickness"? I guess you can figure it out based on how far along you are. Good that you are back in the U.S. for your pregnancy. Surely your hubby will follow too?

hi m&ms

my mum said she had reallly bad D when she was pregnant with my brother - i know your problem is probably more deeply rooted, but she was recommended isogel by her doc (which is an all natural fibre supplement) and she says it worked a treat!

just an idea... :-)

CONGRATS, m&ms!  Your baby will be so "multi-cultural" after everything the ringer your body's been through.  I've never been pregnant so I have no clue how your IBS might change...but I have heard that while some people's symptoms worsen, others completely clear up during those nine months!  So here's hoping for the same for you!
