Hi,

Have always suffered ibs with constipation but the last 3 weeks I have been getting ibs d with really thin stools.  Its so wierd and they look very odd!!

Its driving me bonkers as i can figure out if its food or just me.  I get these cramps just before I need to go and they feel horrible.  Ive never had this before and its worrying me.

Can anyone help??

Hi Tori,
Sometimes your body can go from one symptoms to another in a heartbeat. I went from C to D a few months ago too and it was very quick. Have you had any tests done? The thin stool could be just hemmhroids however you may want to get it checked out. Narrowing of the intestines due to inflammation can cause thin stools as well and its best to rule that out. Are you taking any antispasmodics for the cramping? It might be worth mentioning to your doctor so you can at least get some temporary relief while you wait for answers.
Take Care

Yeah I tke mebeverine but it doesn't seem to do a lot.  I get myself worked up by wondering what is causing it and thinking the worst.  I'm seeing my doctor this afternoon but most of the time they dont do anything but say 'its just the IBS'.  I find doctors no help at all.

Sorry for moaning!

Well I would definitely make sure that you mention thin stools again and if the doctor is not helping you then you need to find one that does help. I wish you well at your appoitment Tori.

Hi,

I saw my doctor yesterday and she said that the thin stools were just part of the IBS.  She took a stool sample to rule out any infection but that was it.

Have felt so sick all day though, can u get nausea and vomiting with IBS???

Hi Tori,
Nausea and vomiting, although rare with IBS, is listed as a symptom of IBS.

I get nausua due to an imbalance in the acid build up in my stomach, especially of a morning or any other time my stomach is empty.

If you have severe or intense pain with your IBS, that can cause you to get queasy or even vomit, espeically if you have had a "weak" stomach in the past.

Quite a few times I have sat on the pot with the garbage in front of me just in case (haven't puked yet though - knock on wood). For me usually the grumbles, D and nausea come hand in hand.

I think my nausea was from the acid also. I have been having good luck with IBD digestive advantage. If I make thru this weekend without any problems then I will know for sure as I have been adding stuff back into my eating. So far 6days IBS free and each day seems better and this after almost 6 months of on and off symptoms.
