I'm glad your sister's wedding, at least, went off without a hitch. One less thing to be worried with now!

Have you tried the probiotic track yet? Bacteria is the only thing I can think of that would create gas, although how they do so much so quickly is beyond me. Have you tried the usual anti-gas pills before you eat? My general rule of thumb is to give any stomach medicine 30 minutes to work, although those dissolve so quickly taking some 15 minutes before eating should be enough. And hey, if one dose doesn't cut it, try upping it. You're not having normal amounts of gas so I wouldn't think that normal amounts of medicine would work for you. If taking extra doses does work, talk to your doctor about being able to sustain that amount. I don't think extra Gas-Xs should harm you, but better safe than sorry with the double-check.

Do you have a recliner or can you get one? Both of my parents have been known to sleep in one when they are having acid reflux. You can also get extra pillows and prop yourself up in bed to try and get some sleep without choking on acid. My mother has always cut her heartburn with dairy--milkshakes being her usual medicine of choice. Will that help or make the gas worse? Can your gas GET worse? Might be worth a try.

No, I can't imagine you can sleep standing up, lol. Did you know that most four legged animals automatically lock their knees when they sleep and that's how they stay standing up? That's also why you can push or "tip" a cow over and it will just lay there with its legs straight out until it wakes up and gets back on its feet. Horses are the same way and I assume other herd/grazing animals, like deer. Cats, humans and dogs, however, all have to sleep lying down because our muscles and tendons relax rather than lock up. Of course a grazing animal has to be ready to run as soon as something chases it, but predators can lie around without too much worry.

Try upping your dose of probiotics too. The extra won't hurt anything. Just watch that they don't make you extra gassy (think you'd notice?).

Has anyone ever done a breath test on you for bacterial overgrowth?

Have you thought about switching probiotics? I have noticed that many on here (me included) get gas from Acidophilus... if you are taking that particular kind you might want to pick a different one.

I'm glad to read you were able to get through your sister's wedding OK. Like Keri said, 1 less thing to stress about. :-)

Good luck!
