i was supose to have had a endoscopy today, but didn't make it. i was in so much pain during the nite i had to make a visit to the er. i had left quad pain.

when i got to the er my BP  was 185/101 and my temp was 102.1. I had an iv soulution running in each arm wide open and wanted me to take something for the pain which i refused because of my solitare kidney.Because i have a history of kidney stones he ordered a KUB.there were no stones and the doctor came in and told me that he thinks i have a possible small bowel obstruction. and called a surgon in but the surgon never came in to see me. the doctor also told me that my wbc was elevated to 12,000. not understanding to why the surgon didn't come in and see me.

they did tell me that my body was too week from the fever and high blood pressure to not go and have the endoscopy that i needed to rescedual.

i had ask the doctor why he thinks i have a small bowel obstruction and he said becuase on the KUB the stool was so bad he couldn't see the bowel at all and when this happens usually there is a blockage causing it and something about the gas pattern.

ok if i have a bowel obstruction y isn't anyone trying to repair it?...not understanding this at all. i am so confused and misserable. if i start up like i did last nite i am going to the next town to the er. maybe they will figure something out.

well anyways that is enough, sorry to be such a pain and bother u guys so much with my problems. but you know what its like i only have u all to talk to and help me understand what is going on. i have gotton more since out of what u tell me that what the doctors do and it eases my mind so much.

just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has answered my post and listened to my problem.

I am keeping all of you in my PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS

GOD BLESS EVERYONE

I don't understand either how they could release you with no diagnosis and not treatment. An infection will cause your BP and pulse to go up as will fever. Didn't they say something about geting rid of infection. What did they tell you to do? What were their instructions when you left? You can't just let a bowel obstruction go without some help for it. Let us know what they said and don't hesitate to go again if the pain comes back. Have you gone to bathroom at all or are you completely constipated. I would be very upset if I were you so you are not whining.

actually they didn't tell me anything other than the bowel obstruction and if i wanted to use an enama to get relief to go ahead. i did and no relieft.. there is one thing i don't understand ok if i am packed in the upper how is a enama going to be anygood to me. i am at the end of my rope i don't know what else to do, all i know is i am so misserable
that i have acutally cried. the only thing i can do is not give up and stay strong and keep trying to get answers. i will visit every hospital, doctor that i can and hopfully i will get some answers and help. i have pretty muh turned it over go God on this one.

anyways they didn't give me any antibotics or anything for an infection. they just told me i could go home and if the pain, fever got worse to come back. thats all i got.

Angel,
(((Big hugs))) What a nightmare. Like Canyon said, you should not have been released if they suspect a bowel obstruction. Yes, you should go to the next towns ER tonight. This is serious business and should be treated immediately. Please try another ER - you really need some answers.
Best of luck to you. And please keep us posted.

I don't understand being released with an obstruction. Did they say impaction? Do they think it is just stool that is the problem? You need to get some answers. He helps those who help themselves remember. Other than a stool softener I would not think you should be doing anything. Do you have an urgent care place you could call and see what they advise. I think I would probably call the ER and tell them that you need more information as to what to do. I was impacted once and ended up using a laxative and a stool softener but I don't think if there is a true obstruction that that is what you should do. I think that can be dangerous.

I agree, I think you need to go the another ER. And the first thing you should tell them is that a doctor told you they suspect you have a bowel obstruction. I'm sure they will wonder why you were sent home also. Impaction and obstruction are different. A true obstruction means that due to adhesions, strictures, etc. you cannot pass anything through your intestines. This can cause serious problems including peritonitis and/or perforation. Impaction is when hard stool is partially or completely blocking and generally can be relieved through laxatives.

My goodness! What crappy care you're getting! Bless your heart.

You need to stomp into the ER and say "I'm full of s--t and I want it out!" The thing of it is, once you are admitted, you have to sign a release form in order to go home. If you get brushed off again, refuse to sign the release. Tell them you will not be released until they have you pooping like a normal human being again.

I was talking to my m-i-l last night and we got off on her days as an x-ray tech and she mentioned having to x-ray someone with a really bad impaction and the hospital had to get it out right then because it had been in there so long the man was on the verge of developing gangrene. So even if you have an impaction rather than an obstruction, you can get very sick, ruin your intestines and even die from it. Any medical professional I've ever known as always taken severe constipation very seriously.

Please find someone else to go to and get them to help you before those crazy doctors at that other place kill you. Don't wait until you get even worse; that poop's not going to come out on its own at this point, and the longer it stays in, the harder it will be to get out. Go to a doctor or ER right now.

And don't worry about the endoscopy anytime soon; your problem is clearly futher south than that.
