Yeah its a1 100 day program hypnotic cd for people who suffer with IBS.  Saw it on a website and had a look.  Its suppose to help with the symptoms nd apparantly has great results.  It costs 65 pound though so dont want to buy it till ive at least heard of someone else who has tried it.

Ouch, sounds a bit pricey.

If you're interested in trying some holisitic healing, have you checked with you local community center or whatever you have there to see if they have some meditation classes or yoga or the like? I took tai chi classes when I was in Ireland (lady just advertised them at the health food store and they were held in a men's hunting/smoking club kind of place) and I absolutely loved them. It was just an hour a week, but it made me feel so relaxed and we did a few minutes of deep breathing and meditation at the end and I always felt just tingly when I left, felt so alive. During the week I would practice in the living room between commercials. They were only one pound Irish a lesson, so a real bargin.

You can also look for relaxation music used from Amazon.com and Alibris.com. I can't imagine what would be on a CD just for people with IBS, except maybe talking you through visualizations of a healthy colon, light radiating out of that chakra, that kind of thing. You might do as well with a used CD of Buddist chanting and visualizing on your own. You might want to go to the library and check out some books on hypnosis and healing meditation to give you some ideas on what to meditate on. At the very least lying down with some spiritual and soothing music, maybe a little incense, ought to relax you and make your colon untense.

Hi Victoria -

The IBS Audio Program has a pretty good success rate - I have used the program after being housebound with IBS for over 20 years. It is not a cure, and doesn't work for everyone, but does for most (like around 90% or better). The author of the program, Michael Mahoney, has an article about his work here on the healingwell site.

If you priced out the cost over the rest of your life, and all the pills I know I have taken over the years for IBS, it really isn't that bad. Unlike other meditation and relaxation tapes, which are helpful of course, this program works specifically for IBS and anxiety etc.

There is a lot of info on the web about folks who have used the program successfully, but I need to respect this BB's posting guidelines and cannot post that here - but in answer to 7Lil - the moderator's question, the program is a set of recorded CDs which replicate clinically trialed hypnotherapeutic sessions - that is, the sessions used within the clinical setting. Several clinical trials using patients referred from gastroenterologists who had exhausted all other forms of treatment were given the sessions and a control group just had conventional medical treatment - those using the clinical hypnotherapy sessions were able to alleviate, and reduce their IBS symptoms - with improvement continuing 3 years beyond completion. The program has been presented to gastroenterologists via the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders - and it is reviewed or listed in 4 well-known books about IBS treatment and care and reviewed on several independent websites as well.

7Lil - I hope this info is within the posting guidelines - I do want to respect that. I suffered with IBS since 1983, and this was the only thing that helped me after years of meds and trips to gastros, etc.

Feel free to ask any questions - I will be happy to help as others helped me along the road... I am about 98% better overall now, and do not take IBS Rx anymore - and I was on all of them at one time or another.

If it is OK for me to post the healingwell link written about IBS and hypno from the author of this program - I will place it here - if this is not OK, then 7Lil, just edit it out.

Take care.

Thankyou cookies for your reply - it is great to hear that it helped you. I think I should give it a try and see if it helps me as I spend loads on my prescriptions for tablets etc and the NHS prescription price just keeps rising!!!!
Thanks again, I appreciate it
