Hey guys. My mom went out and bought some Digestive Advantage for Irritable Bowel a few days ago, and ive been taking it every day once a day for about 3 days now. How long does the stuff take to work its magic..if it has any at all? Have any of you guys had any luck with it?  All its done for me so far has given me gross smelling sulphur gas (which could be from a food tho) and helped my diarrhea a little more so its actually like a formed piece...somewhat...had to use the nasty Wal-Mart bathroom today. bleh! I soo hate public bathrooms (im the biggest germaphobe EVER) but i guess im gonna have to get used to em!

It really helped me. It took about a week. I did not have diahrea though as I have IbS - C. it didn't help a lot with that but it took away all the other stuff like bloating, pain, nausea. I just bought a 90 day supply on Amazon as it was cheaper than at the drug store. In the meantime I am using Acidophalous and Bifuda (sp) a probiotic and it is working the same. I think it says it takes a week to 10 days. Hope it helps and it can't hurt. It just is suppose to balance the digestive system. Better than anything the Dr. has suggested. I do still stay away from most dairy and red meat but I can eat a little now. A nurse told me that red meat never fully digests in the stomach it just sort of ferments. Nice, huh, I stick to chicken and fish, mainly.

It helped me! Like Canyon mentioned, helped with gas, pain and nausea. I stopped taking it thinking I was better... But now I think I'll start up again.
It's worth a shot, blondie.

Wal-Mart bathrooms are the worst. I swear I caught a bad cold from one one year; I went to Wal-Mart one day, used the bathroom, and boom! I was sick the next day. Hadn't been out in public for days prior to that and no one else in the house was sick, so I'm certain I caught my cold at Wal-Mart, and I tend to blame the bathroom; they never keep the ones around here clean and tidy. I'd rather use the toliet at a gas station.

Good luck with the D.A. I've put Stuart on it since he was having lingering diarrhea after we all caught something while camping. He thinks it was caused by something he was eating, but I think he just still has some bad bacteria in there, left over from what we caught, maybe a little intestinal irritation. He gave up the things he thought was causing it and is taking a D.A. pill on the days he remembers to and he's stopped having diarrhea, so it's a tossup on what's fixed him. If he adds everything back in and is still good, then I was probably right and the D.A. did him a lot of good.

Hey blondie,

I tried DA for about 3 weeks on one per day and then upped my dose to 2 per day for a further 2 weeks and i'm afraid to say it didn't seem to make any difference for me.

Like Lil says, it's worth a shot tho as we are all different and it might help you.

Good Luck!

I am usually IBS-C.  I've been on Miralax, Lactulose, Zelnorm, you name it.  AFter the Zelnorm stopped working, I am now on a combination of DA-IBS, plus Phazyme, plus Milk of Mag., for a little over a month now.

I take 2 DA's, one in the morning and one before bed.  The Phazyme is to help with the gas, so I take one midmorning and one after dinner.  The Milk of Mag I take one tbsp. in the morning and one tbsp after dinner.

I was supposed to be on this combo until this month when the Amitiza is available.  However, I've decided not to go with the Amitiza now because this other way is working!  The main plus of this is that all three products that are working are also all OTC.  I like this.

Good luck, I'd suggest trying it out, but maybe with 2 instead of one.

Sounds like a good routine. I really like Phazyme. I add a Pepcid at night even though I take Prevacid for acid but nightime acid is a bother and causes more gas. I do the Pepto instead of MM. MM would probably be less constipating though so may try that. I was getting bad nausea but with the DA and all this other OtC stuff that has gone away.
