Hello All,
I am a 35 yr old F that was DX w/ IBS years ago and really could not appreciate the effects it would have on my life. First of all my bowel movements are about 2-3xs a day and are usually normal w/ mucus & w/ D only occasionally but oh my the pain from not being able to expel the gas is HORRIBLE at times! and I am so really doesn't help and i started probiotics, the 1st 4 days i was ecstatic thinking i was cured then back came the pain and bloating..oh I cant stand it..I would appreciate any suggestions..Thank you

Hi jusbu,
Welcome to Healing Well :)
Sounds like your biggest complaint is the gas pain. Do you take anything for the gas? Gas-X, Beano, etc? I take Beano pretty regularly because my gas problems are very bad. Even though I still get the pains, they are not anywhere as bad as they used to be. Gas-X should help you expel the trapped gas and should ease the pain a bit too. Did you start the probiotics slowly? Some people here have said that if you don't you can get gas/bloating (kind of like starting fiber) so its better to work your doses up instead of starting with full doses. I'm sure we'll have more replies for you... usually the weekends are a bit slow so don't get discouraged if you don't hear something right away.
Take Care

Try massaging your abdomen going down the front, over to the right, across at the top of your stomach and see if that helps. Also, see if you find a tender spot a couple of inches up and to the left of your belly-button. If so, it's what us Fibroites call a trigger point--massage it and hopefully, it will help.
