Some info on how to shop around for the best price, to talk to your doctor up front about what you can and cannot afford and a few agencies that help people afford their medicine.

And remember to call or look on the website of the maker of your name-brand products; they often offer rebates or coupons for people who have trouble affording their medicines, but you may have to ask for this outright.

Article on how what you are prescribed can limit your ability to obtain individual health insurance in the U.S. Anti-depressants are, perhaps, the number one reason why people are given higher premiums, deductibles, lack of drug coverage or outright denial. If you face having to get individual coverage on your own (i.e. not through an employer or other group insurance policy), and you are on an anti-depressant for IBS symptoms, you'll want to make sure you have your doctor note that the medicine is for IBS treatment, not mental illness and argue with the insurance provider if they try to jack up the rates on you by saying you have a mental condition.
