Hello. After a CAT scan for stomach pain & diahrea an adrenal growth was found, as well as diverticulosis. My adrenal growth is secreting excess chromogranin A (whatever that means) and I still have diahhrea.

This past week I had a great deal of pain in the center of my stomach and immediately after I eat, I am on the toilet. My GI said it doesnt sound like my diverticulosis has turned into diverticulitis and it could be from the extra stuff the growth on my adrenal gland is secreting. She put me on dicyclomine 10mg for the diahrea, but after reading the warnings I am pretty scared to take it.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Any advice?

Hi deeschmee,
Welcome to Healing Well :)
Where is your diverticulosis located? The reason I ask is because the pain from it is very localized and doesn't seem to radiate. I have it in my sigmoid colon which is on my left side and that is exactly where I get that pain, no where else. Diverticulosis pain is very much a "stabbing" kind of pain. Not sure where you are describing the pain... is it in your stomach or abdomen. Right above your belly button is your transverse colon where its very common to get pains from trapped gas. Gas seems to like to hang out right there causing a lot of pain.

Diverticulitis will most of the time cause fever because of an infection in the diverticula. If you have a fever accompianied with the pain I would really suggest seeing someone soon. One of my bouts of diverticulitis landed me in the hospital on antibiotics and a liquid diet. One more bout and doc says he wants me under the knife *shudders.

Thank you for your reply!
My diverticula are in my sigmoid colon, so as you describe it, with the fever & all, its most likely not diverticulitis. I truly believe its from my adrenal growth. Is there anywhere to post about that?
Thank you nonce again!
