Is there anyone out there that has used Lomotil on a regular basis?Just wondering if anyone uses this on a daily basis or not. I have been taking 1 per day lately Mon thru Fri and it has been taking care of everything for me. I have been going every morning and then again in the evening if I take lomotil. I have problems with loose stools and urgency to go immediately after eating.Do you think Lomotil will continue to work for me if I keep taking it?

I'm glad you are having success with the Lomotil. I hope everything keeps going right for you on it. Its hard to say if a med will keep working for someone... sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

i had a difficult time with lomotil. i was on it every day and then on a as needed basis, i have since gotten rid of them. i got extreme nausea from them, and even had a hard time urinating. it felt like it dried all of me up. (i know that sounds very strange...) but i am VERY glad it is working for you!

Mouth sores, Constipation, hard stoll, If going to toilet is delayed then get a bloted stomach and laziness, hard stole cuts when I pass it and if it happens for more then a day in rwo or two, that converts to really painfull passing of stole, and may be traces of blodd on third day and then the pain stays all day long.

If I am regularly taking Macrogol 1000 in the packing named as Forlax, I am ok. I have been to differnt Dr, in few conutries but still not exact understanding of situation.

I am fine with Macrogol, But I won`t to get off it and wants to understand what is the real problem.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, ANYONE HELP ME!!!!

Hey all. I to had difficulty with lomotil. It worked, but then i was constipated for like 3/4 days and it was quite painful when i finally had to go. I use something called Gastro-Stop now, thats what its called in Australia. Its also called Diareze Diarreha Relief in the UK. But that stops me going ot the loo for about one day which is perfect for me and then its fairly normal when i pass a stool the next day..So thought id just let everyone else know.

I find that if i take the gastro stop for like two days straight my bowel feels like its twisted..not in a painful way, just uncomfortable... i get worried cos i dont want to use it everyday cos i dont want ti to hurt my system..and im starting to think it might be hurting me more than helping. It still stops me going to the loo but is it hurting something else inside me......

hey jjur...How many Lomotils do you take per day? And you said that you use it every day for a few months now correct? I only take 1 per day Mon thru friday and it works great for me. When I wake up in the morning I go 1 or 2 times then I take a lomotil and I am good untill either later on at night or the next morning.

Hi.  I take Lomotil almost every day.  I've been taking it for about two years, and it is just as effective as the first day I took it.  My IBS-like symptoms are due to multiple adhesions in my GI tract.  Before I began the Lomotil, I was always too sick to eat.  I lost about fifty pounds in six months because of the diarrhea and intestinal cramping.  The Lomotil has allowed me to live my life again.  Now, I can go out to eat with friends and not have to worry about rushing to the bathroom.  I take the maximum recommended dose of 2 tablets every 6 to 8 hours.  I've never had any of the dry mouth problems.  I hate always having to take Lomotil to be able to live my life, but without it, I'm completely housebound.  Also, I've never had any of the constipating problems with it, but that is a common side effect in many people.  Good luck, and take good care.  Ali

So I guess if you have been taking it for a few years now and its still effective then I should be ok with taking 1 per day. 1 pill per day for me does absolutely wonders. It gets me thru the day (I work on the road where there are no restrooms,if I need one I have to go find one) but yeat it doesnt block me up I still go 1 or 2 times every morning and sometimes once later at night.I also take calcium 3 times per day.

Should I suggest this to my GI doctor? What are the other side effects?

there can be no harm in suggesting it, basically it is just a little stronger than imodium ad, i honestly dont have any side effects, no cramping.... no nothing, no harm in giving it a shot

I've taken 2 pills a day for about the last 4 years. I have to take them first thing in the morning or I'll lose my breakfast. The only side effect I've seen is an increase in UTI's. Seems that if it calms down my gut it also calms down my bladder. Lately I've increased my water intake and no more UTI's. Good luck. It's been Heaven sent for me.
