I wanted to mention that the 2nd GI specialist that I went to this past Monday put me on a new medicine.  He put me on Colestid (1 tab. at bedtime). It's a pretty big pill, but you get used to swallowing it. This medicine is for people with high levels of colesterol in their blood but they also give it to people suffering with chronic diarrhea.  (My colesterol level is normal and it will not effect the level.) It is safe to take for diarrhea reasons even if you don't have high colesterol.  My best friend is a pharmasist and she said she sees it Rx more for diarrhea than high colesterol.

I am happy to report that I believe I am having some success with this drug.  Since starting it Monday night, I have only had loose stools 1 time a day, first thing in the morning.  BEtter than 3 - 7 times a day!

Maybe some of you can enquire about it with your Dr.  It is slowing things down for me...it seems to work better than Immodium. (at least for me.)

Anybody else take this??

I don't take that prescription, but I do take Welchol, which is a cholesterol medicine, for my diarrhea because I don't have a gall bladder and have too much bile in my guts most of the time.

Hi Shelly - I'm glad you found something to help! My doc rx'd Questran which is also a cholesterol med. I never filled the scrip cause mine was doing a little bit better. I guess I should since it's getting worse again now, though! Let us know how your tests went today!

The gall bladder ultrasound was okay...the hida scan was NOT fun.  They have to stick you with a needle that feels like it's a nail then they give you this injection of med. that makes your gall bladder contract and empty and it makes your stomach cramp up too.  It made me feel like I was going to get sick.  That feeling lasted about 10 minutes then it let up.  I should find out, maybe this morning, of the results.  I hate waiting for test results. Don't you??
