Hi all,

Does IBS-D ever go away????  I am thinking that there isn't an end in sight.  I can't go like this forever.  I am nauscious, feel grose, I'm irritable, I want to cry a lot because this makes me so sad.  almost 4 straight months now I've had diarrhea / loose stols.  It has damaged my self-esteem and everything else.  I just need it to stop.  I've had every test imaginable and all show nothing, yet my health seems bad and I look awful.

Any advice??

Shelly, I know what you mean. I hate the thought of this never ending. I am in the process of trying to move on and do the best I can until they come up with a solution.  I have started forcing myself to go out and be social and it is a lot of work. I have to prepare days in advance of what Im going to eat so I do not have an attack out at a bar. (How embarrassing that would be to be trying to pick someone up and having to run to the bathroom- or even worse, you pick someone up and take them home or you go to their home and have an attack then- Ugh!)

I understand your feelings. I was to that point but I had to force myself to get past it. I have started a new friendship that will hopefully grow, but I am not ready to discuss any GI issues with him.  I don't want to scare him off because honestly it would scare me away.

I said on here repeatedly, I don't understand why there isn't a pill to cure this because it is not not like a cold or virus which mutates making it hard to come up with a cure. They should be able to develop a pill or a series of pills that knocks out the symptoms.  When will we get the cure!!??

I have an attack everyday.  It doesn't matter what I eat.  It's sthe same thing everyday.  i always worry that the Doctors hasn't found what is really causing it and it isn't really IBS with diarrhea.  I NEED to truct what the Doctors say.  I just hate feeling like this and being this way. I was FINE until mid-March...then BAM, I have IBS-D?  It's hard to believe that.  I jsut want my life back.

I understand and it happened to me the same way. I was fine until one day on vacation in New York. I had an attack in the middle of the SoHo district and I had to track down a taxi to go back to the hotel. (Bathrooms are very hard to find in NY). From that point on, I've had problems. I don't understand how it can just happen one day and never stop. I have started to learn how to control it at least at little.

Shelley, it is amazing how similiar our experiences are!  My attack happened last year in June (I can still remember the date, what I ate that day, the day before, how I felt, EVERYTHING!!).  I honestly thought I had food poisoining because of how often I was going to the bathroom.  But all tests came back negative for food poisoning, bacteria, etc.  So, I was stuck with no answers.  I lost my insurance shortly after having this happen and just recently got new insurance and am finally going to a specialist the end of this month.

I cant believe how much my self esteem has gone down.  I don't want to go do anything anymore.  I just want to stay home and lay in bed!  I was married for a short time before I had that first attack and it was so saddening for me to know what I was putting my new husband through.  It has put a damper on our marriage, but luckily he understands as much as he can.  We used to go out all the time and now we never do.  I have become a boring home body!

I hope that one day they find a cure for all of us!!!  I pray that all the time!  Or just to wake up the next morning and be back to my normal self!!!!!!!
