I wrote the makers of DA and told them that mannitol (a sugar alcohol) was not a good ingredient to be putting in an IBS product since so many IBSers were sensitive to it.  Here's the response:

They have considered taking the sweeteners out, and hopefully will be
doing
so very soon. You may purchase our non chewable tablet that is sold online
at rofay.com or drugstore.com, and sold in Costco. This box contains 92
caplets of our non chewable IBS formula. Thank you for your interest in our
product, and have a nice day.

So, if you want DA but can't have the mannitol, you can get a pill to swallow without the sugar alcohol.

No wonder I liked the pill better! I remember telling someone here that the pill seemed to work better for me than the chewable.
Thanks for sharing, Keri! I will definitely keep with the pill version. :-)

Way to be a pro-active consumer, Keri!  I like you.

I've just had to go on a short round of antibiotics prior to surgery tomorrow (because I am still trying to get over a cold from last week), and I ended up having to get Culturelle to take with it because of the mannitol in DA. Next time I will know I can order the pills from online; the Culturelle is about twice as expensive.

I had mentioned earlier in a post that my DA didn't have the Mannitol. Didn't connect it to being the one I swallow. My guess is they just add it to make it taste better to chew. when I ordered I didn't pay any attention but when I got it noticed it was not a chewable.

Unless you are super sensitive to it I don't think it would as there is only a tiny bit in it for a little taste as it has not other value. You might try the ones you don't chew.
