Sometimes when I have a lot of gas I can actually feel it moving thru my intestines. The only thing I can relate it to is like trying to pull a grape(or something bigger) thru a straw. Always in the same spot on left side. Seems like my whole side sticks out before it starts and causes me to cough because of back pressure. Does this sound like a spasm? I am not constipated at the moment but it feels like i am all twisted. I have been getting this on and off for years and it just feels like something is all twisted. I have some Levsin and Belladonna. The Levsin has not done anything and I have been reluctant to try the Belladonna because of the pheno in it.
open to suggestions. I have never had it for a Dr. to see as it is always in the evening.

Hi Canyonbabe,
I'm wondering if you're having what I sometimes have. It affects my chest alot.....and makes me feel like my heart is having irregular beats, when it's not. And it makes me cough. I've referred to this sensation as feeling like I have a small animal living in my chest.
What I found helps me the most is taking Calcium every day. Sometimes, when it gets bad, I just have to back off eating much for a few days, and it seems to relax. Certain foods seem to really bother more during this time.......like cabbage, peppers, onions.
I think some of us have alot of gas in our transverse colons, and maybe even have slow digestion there. Maybe our poop even has trouble making those 2 90 degree turns at the beginning and end of our transverse colons. But.......many times I feel like the gas or whatever is pressing on my diaphragm and pushing up into my heart and lungs. I think that's when I get those heart feelings and the coughing. I actually do get irregular heartbeats at times during this weirdness.
I think some of us must have thin diaphragms, and alot of the GI activity gets transmitted up into our chests.
I seem to go through spells where I blow up like this, and my digestion slows down and I'm really uncomfortable. Like I said, the daily intake of Calcium helps me alot..........and during these times I just have to almost quit eating for a few days.
Good luck.
