Hi, I have never posted on this board before...I am usually found on the Fibro and anxiety boards. I was DX'd with IBS almost 15 years ago....but luckily my symptoms were very mild to nonexistant til recently tongue   I was wondering if IBS can make you feel sick to your tummy, sometimes for 3 days straight???....Never really found out too much about it when first DX'd, so I am kinda lost...lol...any help would be appreciated...

Hugs

Shelly

Some IBSers get sick to their stomachs--especially when they are on the toliet and/or in pain. But a number of people on here also have GERD, so that can make it difficult to say if it's the IBS or the acid reflux.

Are you sure none of your fibro meds are causing you to be sick? Some of the things they put you on for it are pretty strong. And even if you're still on the same meds you've been on for years, switching from name-brand to generic can mess you up. We have found out here that generics are not always exactly the same because they can have different inactive ingredients--which, if they have a different coating, for instance, can impact how they work in your digestive tract. Someone on here was taking some med that worked for her, but it stopped working when she switched to generic; the pharmacist pointed out that the generic had different inactive ingredients and that maybe it was dissolving too fast or too slow in her guts and so wasn't timed right to work for her. I know I tried a generic birth control shot once and it was horrible! It was like trying to inject molasses it was so thick. Very painful. I went back to the name-brand.

Hi Shelly,
I get nauseous on a daily basis. It all really depends on why though.... If I eat before I go to bed I will wake up nauseous for sure. If I eat too much anytime of day, nauseous. If I'm nervous, nauseous. If I'm having a D attack, NAUSEOUS (big time). If I'm too gassy, nauseous. I've pretty much learned to deal with it. I drink lots of tea and ginger ale and always have crackers with me.

Hi there- Oh MyGod- nausea was my main symptom for a long period of time in the middle.  Esp. with episodes of D like 7lil.  It's awful, but try some meds. if not compazine or Zofran then maybe some Ginger (Canyonbabe's brillliant suggestion that really does work the best!! Thanks canyon!!) tablets.  And as 7lil mentioned, tea, gingerale and saltines can help with tummy upset.  Take it easy and good luck.
