I've been having alot of trouble with my stomache/intestines for a while.  I have IBS-C, but for the last LONG while I've been very heavy on the C.  So heavy in fact, that in order to "go" at all, I've had to take alot of laxatives/stool softeners.

My gut has really started bothering me after my dr put me on Morphine Sulfate for my pain.  I was on it for about 1 month and then changed over to Oxy IR.  This seems to be better, but every time I eat, I get bloated, gasy and in pain.

I  am taking a digestive enzyme, using gas-x but nothing seems to help/work.  I had a colonoscopy 1 wk ago.  Do you think that could screw things up with your digestive system as well?  I've been "going" alot more frequently since then.  Frequent for me, anyways.

  I just want some relief!

I'm not sure how reliant on pain meds you are, but constipation is a sure bet while you are on them.  I have chronic diarrhea - anywhere from 3-20 times a day - and more than Imodium, Lomotil, calcium, fiber supplements, etc., I found that narcotics were the only meds that stopped me up.  It was a welcome relief for me, but I don't want to be on narcotics if I'm not in pain, so I only take them when I have excrutiating pain.  After gallbladder surgery I took pain meds for a week and that was the only time in my life I was ever remotely "constipated" (i.e., going less than twice a day).  I don't know how feasible it would be for you to take a trial week without the pain meds, or try a different medication, but you might find it's the meds that are making you so constipated and bloated, which in turn could cause further gut pain.

Colonoscopies can mess up your guts a bit too, although I can't imagine for any more than a few days.  They pump air in there to visualize the intestines better, which causes gasiness and bloating.

Absolutely, my digestive system goes complety nutty after my colonoscopies. It takes a while to get back in balance taking the probiotics. My Dr. says it shouldn't be but it is. I think I flush out the good and the bad stuff. I notice you are taking Vit B complex. Have you tried doing without that to see if you are better. It can be very hard on the sytem in some people. See if you can get one that disolves under the tongue if you really have to take it. My friend went thru all kinds of trouble and it turned out to be the Vit. B complex.

I just recently started taking the Vit B Complex again. Maybe it is that. I've ALWAYS struggled with constipation, even before pain medication became a part of my life. I will quite the Bcomplex for a bit and see if that makes a difference! Thanks

Is your hypothyroidism under control? Mine isn't and I know that constipation is one of the signs of hypo T.The symptoms of hypo T are so varied and definetly not the same. In my case I have thick hair and nails and really should not have with my hypo. I also do not have depression which is a symptom. It just messes up the entire endocrine system. Let us know if stopping the Vit B helps.

I told somebody else about these here awhile ago but I used to have some constipation (my symptoms have completely switched now!) and what really helped were these supplements by Biotics Research called Colon Plus Caps. It's a natural supplement but I think they still need to be ordered from the company by a doctor. You take four of them and within two hours they are supposed to cause you to have a normal bowel movement. Sometimes they worked within 15 minutes for me and other times it take up to two hours. If they don't work within two hours you take another 4 but I've never had to do that.

The nice thing about them is they do not cramp your stomach up or make you bloated while they are working. As long as I take them and go off and find something else to do without stressing about them working then they have been great. They are supposed to make your bowels regular after a couple days and are not like laxitives that make you dependent on them for help.

I know how you feel though- I have a huge amount of bloating and pain in the morning until noon and at night from 8 or so on.
