This only involves one class of antibiotics, but it includes Cipro, which I know some of our people are on or go on from time to time.  Something about that class of antibiotics can increase your chances of getting tendon inflamation and even, it seems, tears.  Weird that an antibiotic could do that, but there you have it.  Make sure you keep on alert if you are taking that class of antibiotics and go easy on yourself.  You better put off the long distance jumping and rugby for a while too.  :-)

I know a number of people with lung disease that have had this problem because we are always seemingly on one antibiotic after another. I know that Avelox is in the same class(floxins) but so far no one that I know that took it has had the problem. I cannot take Cipro as it makes my gums swell a little but I can take Avelox. It is just a different formulation even though it is a floxin antibiotic. Just food for thought. you don't even have to jump with Levaquin as most the people were not that active.
