hello everyone,
i just joined. i am Denise, 49 from Oshawa Ontario Canada.
i have had IBS for too long to recall exactly. at least 10 years or more.
i have id'd what causes me to run and to have accidents in public places but still need to id other culprits.
i can say that the remedy called Physillium Seed Husks works wonderful for me. if not fot it i would not be able to leave the house and i would have accidents all over my home too.
even with the husks if i eat cheese or drink too much milk i can have accidents. not always but lots of times.
the husks can be bought at the shoppers drug mart here in Ontario or at the local health food store. NOTE i cant use anything but in husk form. comes in other form but dont recall what it is called.
i take 2 tablespoons first thing in morn and then 3 tablespoons last thing at night with plenty of water to send it down.
my bowel movements can still be very soft sometimes with this remedy but usally NO runs. i also take immodium when going out and when i have accidents at home so as not to soil my surrounding. lol. i sound like a pet dog. no offense meant.
look forward to reading all the posts. Denise:)

I'm glad that works for you. There are a number of people here who have found that physillum husks really help them.
Have you seen us mention Caltrate 600 w/ vitamin D for diarrhea? It's an OTC calcium supplement that is just naturally constipating. A lot of people use it in addition to their daily dose of fiber or other meds.

Psyllium is actually one of the ingredients in the "prodiem" fibre supplement pills that I take. I could very well be in metamucil as well, I don't know because I've never checked, but it wouldn't surprise me.
:)
