Hi, welcome to HealingWell!
Yes, your symptoms do sound like IBS. Unfortunately, however, you need to see a doc and do serveral tests before getting a diagnosis. You'll want to get a blood test (check your vitamins, minerals, hormones, etc.) and a stool test (for parasites & blood). Most of us got an ultrasound and colonoscopy as well.
Are you on any meds that could cause D as a side effect? Are you on birth control pills? Do you see blood?
It is not uncommon for people to develop IBS while pregnant. Usually it happens after surgery or food poisoning... All those disrupt our GI flora. Have you tried taking probiotics? Calcium is also another way to help prevent D. It soaks up the excess water in the bowels.
It is quite common for IBSers to have D before heading out of the house. Many of us are afraid of having an accident or even just having to "go" in public. It is also common to have the pain subside after a BM. Nausea too is frequent. Hot tea and a heating pad can help with the pain and nausea. Ginger ale, ginger tea, ginger gum, ginger pills can do wonders for the nausea. Gerd can also cause nausea (and pain). Do you get heartburn?
Gas can be helped with Gas-X or peppermint. Flatulance is quite uncomfortable and embarrassing so I usually keep Gas-X in my purse, along with some mint tea.
Have you spoken to your doc about
any of this post baby?
