Hello again.

I've been experiencing alot of discomfort for about a week now. The left part of my abdomin seems to feel constantly full, like I have a stool there, and sometimes my lower left or right back begins to ache. Its not horribly painful, but its really annoying.

I have passed stools and it makes me feel better (all well formed and no strange colors... however with the assistance of Fiber pills/Drink), but it seems that this feeling just comes back the next day or afew days after. Is there anything I can do to get this annoying feeling gone? Is this just a bout of constipation or something else?

Hi Lazy,
Given that you feel a sense of relief after a BM, it is probably most likely pain and discomfort from constipation. I visited my doc a few hours after a horrible bout of D and when she pushed on the left side of my abdomen I almost screamed. She explained that our stool is stored in the descending colon which resides on our left side. Mine was sore because of all the spasming. Anyway, this could be the exact opposite with you. You could have an abundance of stool stored in there which causes a constant pain. Do you take fiber supplements or drink prune juice or aloe vera? What about asking your doc about Zelnorm? I was on Zelnorm for several months and it did wonders for me.
Hope you get to feeling better soon...

Hello 7Lil. Thanks for the reply! I took a natural laxitive (Sennagen/Senakot) and now I'm feeling MUCH better. I've also reworked my diet abit (not drinking so many sodas, slipping in some fiber into my diet, etc) so I'm not in any discomfort at the moment.

I'm glad that you're feeling better.  One thing I have seen some IBS-C people mention as being helpful for them to stay regular is walking, running or some other form of exercise.  If you get in the situation again where you feel like you may be backed up, try taking a long walk and see if you can't get something moving.  At the very least, walking often helps relieve stomach cramps--I guess by keeping the muscles stretched out so they can't knot up on you.

Thats something I probably should do since all I do is sit around :P it probably is one of the main causes to my constipation. Plus its come back too... so I may as well give that a go and hope that it gets things moving... either that or I've been having abit too much fiber and its making me alittle achey.
