Am think this may be gall bladder though CT showed no stones. What is the best test for GB? I think this is in the neay near future for me. I don't have much pain. A little sharp pain near rib but am getting nausea from gas again. It could be the IBS rearing up again, also.

An ultrasound is the "gold standard" for locating any stones, but CT scans will do the job also.  If your ejection fraction is low, only a HIDA scan will show that.  Best of luck!

If you don't have the stones then do you get the HIDA or what to show if the gall bladder is diseased.

The hida scan shows if your gall bladder is functioning normally. Mine wasn't, so it came out. When they did an autopsy on it (lol), they found that it was chronically inflamed. I believe my mother's GB was undersized/deformed (which actually didn't show up on her ultrasound). You can also have pre-stone material in your gall bladder, known as "sludge", that might not be detected on the ultrasound, but which can keep your gall bladder from emptying properly. And a lady I worked with here said that her ultrasound was inconclusive, but her hida scan showed it wasn't functioning at all, and when they took it out, it was completely filled with stones. There had been so many stones packed in there, they couldn't see them with an ultrsound because there was no space around them to highlight them!

Definitely get the HIDA scan done! I got it done a few weeks ago. Turns out my gallbladder is functioning around 85% so it is working fine. The test itself is really not bad at all. Just takes a while, but it is worth it to know what is going on!
Good luck!
