Hey guys
well the truth was told today. After 10 months of going through lets say bs well for me i wasnt diagnosed today with anything because they arent sure of what i have. I either have crohns or colitis. They found ulcers during my colonoscopy. My Gi said that ulcers are more associated with Crohns disease. He said from what they saw during the colonoscopy sort of explains the symptoms ive been having. But i still have not had any diarrea so that is the thing he sort of doesnt understand.
So today was a big change in my life and i am sitting here and wondering where this will lead to in the near future. I dont know how to cope with this. I guess i will take it day by day.
I just want to thank you guys for your support and thanks for telling me to change GI. As my first GI just told me ibs without any tests and gave me dicetel.
Well i guess ill have to post on the crohns board now or the UC.
But take care and ill come by from time to time to post and see how you guys are doing.

dee :)

I have crohns-colitis, it's when crohns is affecting the colon they term it as crohns-colitis which is not the same as having ulcertive colitis...the terms docs use can be confusing so I thought I would clarify that for you...if he never actually said ulcertive colitis then he means that he thinks you have crohns affecting your colon...

crohns can affect any part of the GI tract from the mouth to the anus, UC is limited to the colon and sometimes involves the rectom (when there is inflammation in the rectom it's termed as proctitis).

with crohns there are skipped patterns of inflammation sometimes including polyps (similar to ulcers), with UC the entire area will be inflammed with no skipped areas of inflammation like there is with CD.

I am so sorry to hear you have IBD instead of IBS.... I must say, however, I bet it's nice to finally have a diagnosis (kind of). Lots of people who have Crohn's or UC go into remission with the help of meds and/or diet. This too can happen for you. :-)
Congrats on finding a doc that took your symptoms seriously! Hopefully he'll get you on the road to better health real soon. And yes, please check in with us every now and then with an update.
Take care...

Don't worry about not having D. Several of the people on the Crohn's Forum have constipation instead of D (and when they're in remission or partial remission, they might even be perfectly normal). While D is probably present in 90%-95% of Chronnies, the absence of it doens't meant that you're abnormal. I know, it's not fun to have IBD now, but no need to have your doctor make you think that you have some really weird, abnormal case of IBD. You should respond to treatment like everyone else.

You know, people say IBD is worse, because obviously it can cause permanent damage to your colon, but it does seem like they have more medicines to treat it and keep it somewhat under control than people with IBS have. Some people have terrible IBS and never find a medicine to help control it. If you "just had IBS" still, you'd have less chance of feeling better than you do now that you have IBD. Hope that makes you feel better!

Hi Dee,
Hope you're doing well over on the Crohn's or UC board. Do you know yet which of the 2 IBD's you have?
Be well...
