Hi all, For the last couple months I've been noticing color changes in my BM's. Maybe once a week, sometimes every 2 weeks, I'll go to the toilet and have an almost white BM. Other times I'll have yellowish loose stools and when I wipe(sorry, I know...Gross) there seems to be alot of greasy yellow(bile?) on the paper. My guess is something is going awry with my gallbladder or bile ducts but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and found a cause for it through their doctor. The other question I want to ask is do any of you get physically drained the day after a bad IBS attack? I had a white formed BM Sunday and yesterday(Tuesday had the yellow physically draining attack and it seems to be a regular pattern lately.
I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary that would give me white BM's...Thanks for any input.

When you describe "greasy yellow" stools as being "bile", you are correct. You're not absorbing fats well, and after 2 full months of symptoms, it's time to visit your doctor. Could be gallbladder, could be pancreas, could be a many different things. It's normal to feel drained and tired after having diarrhea. You lose lots of fluids and electrolytes can get out of whack, so keep up the fluids - water or gatorade, not coffee, tea, or colas, that sort of thing. Do you have any other symptoms aside from the bowel changes? Any pain or cramping? Any changes in your diet or new medications?

It's probably not anything serious, but since this has gone on for a while now, it sure wouldn't be out of line to ask your doc about your symptoms. Hope you get to feeling better soon. :-)
