So, I haven't posted in a while because I was starting to feel somewhat, dare I say...normal? Normal in the sense that since I got off the xilflaxin, (which I HIGHLY recommend) I'd have one sort of productive movement in the morning which was normally loose but formed, and then go through the rest of my day without any. I've found that about once a week I need to take imodium when a episode of D seems more rugged than normal, which stops the press for about a day and a half and then I start over. But today, I think I've had to use the washroom 4 times, and every time it was loose but formed, and really long? I mean, where is this all coming from?!?! I'm not eating a whole lot more, but I guess I'm not too scared to eat since I got off the xilflaxin like I was. Oh, and my celiac tests came back negative which was great news. I guess what I'm driving at is how much is too much if it still sorta formed? The other thing is that since my big weight loss last summer, its seems like my body won't allow me to creep over 115 on the scale. Its like, when it starts to near 117-119 that's when I have a day like today. Any thoughts?

Thanks, I don't know what'd I do without you guys! :)

I might sound like a broken record on this board, but have you by any chance had your thyroid levels checked?

I'd say going 4 times a day with formed stools is not half bad at all!  I wouldn't worry too much about it, if your tests have been normal; the fact that your BMs are formed is a great sign.  It's probably not as much as you think it is, stool-weight-wise.  If you are looking to gain weight, try an Ensure or two every day and that might help you boost yourself up a bit in that realm.

I ask about the thyroid hormones because sometimes frequent BMs can be a sign of an overactive thyroid.

Good point Sarita, I know that my GI doc does this as a normal initial visit test, testing for thyroid function. As you say, an overactive thyroid can produce frequent BMs and the also true for an underactive thyroid can cause constipation.

Sometimes I get frequent BM's and they are formed but long and thin. I get this from time to time and then go back to normal. I don't know what causes it. My doc says its just the 'IBS' playing up!!

Thanks so much for your advice friends! I'm actually scheduled to meet with my GI doc today so I'll run that by him and see what he thinks.
