Hello,

I am a 25 year old with chronic pain as well as IBS-D. I have been hospitalized several times because of flareups and have been through all testing possible. I am on the "borderline" of colitis, so my symptoms are similar to that, but I have only been diagnosed with IBS. It of course got worse after my gall bladder was removed in 2001. I take questran and align (a new probiotic) for the IBS. I look forward to chatting with the wonderful people on this site, and hopefully helping anyone out that I can!

Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for your reply...I have been tested and found several food allergies!! Tree nuts, garlic, beans, and mushrooms!! Avoiding them has helped somewhat. This week I am increasing my dose of questran and trying Align (a probiotic) so we'll see what happens! I'm so glad to hear that your symptoms have improved!!!!!!!!!

Hi mala407,
Welcome to HealingWell! :-)
What do you mean you are on the borderline of colitis? Have you been scoped? Did they find inflammation and take biopsies?
You may have already come across a post suggesting this... Calcium. It works great for helping control D. There are many of us on this board who take Caltrate + Vitamin D to help control their daily D.
Hope to see you around the boards...

Fibre is very beneficial too for both IBSers and IBDers, do you take fibre supplements or eat enough fibreous foods everyday? It helps with D and/or C. MY GI told me to take fibre supplements daily for the rest of my life and it has helped with my crohns and IBS...the probiotics have helped tons too, especially with my lactose intolerance, I no longer have to take lactaid tabs.

Good job on taking probiotics, it's highly recommended for IBD and IBS too.

:)

Hi everyone, thanks so much for the advice. I have been scoped and a few red areas were biopsied...I dont have colitis but my doctors wouldnt be surprised if I eventually developed it. If my symptoms continue to get worse or i cannot bounce back from flareups, we will scope again. I'm glad to hear that others take probiotics too! I'll let you know how I do on it. And thanks for the calcium D advice! looking forward to talking to everyone :)
