 Medicare Coverage In A Nutshell
The phone rings and the lady of the house answers, "Hello."
"Mrs. Ward, please."
"Mrs. Ward, this is Doctor Jones at the Medical Testing Laboratory. When your doctor sent your husband's biopsy to the lab yesterday, a biopsy from another Mr. Ward arrived as well, and we are now uncertain which one is your husband's. Frankly the results are either bad or terrible"
"What do you mean?" Mrs. Ward asks nervously.
"Well, one of the specimens tested positive for Alzheimer's and the other one tested positive for AIDS. We can't tell which is your husband's."
"That's dreadful! Can't you do the test again?" questioned Mrs. Ward.
"Normally we can, but Medicare will only pay for these expensive tests one time."
"Well, what am I supposed to do now?"
"The people at Medicare recommend that you drop your husband off somewhere in the middle of town. If he finds his way home, don't sleep with him."
Doesn't it seem like that sort of situation sometimes when you're trying to get diagnostic tests?

Ha ha ha ha!!!!  Good one, Keri!  :-)

I can totally relate to restrictions of insurance and then having to fork over a small fortune to pay what they didn't cover.  I'm pretty sure I remember reading someone posting about how a colonoscopy costs them $100-$150.... That wasn't the case for me!  I would have loved to get a bill for only that!  I had to pay 20%, which ended up being like $300.  In fact, I paid closer to $500 because I got the EGD done too.  Healthcare is not so wonderful here in the USA.  sad

That was a good one devil Reminds me of another one.

An elderly lady went to the clinic to report she was passing a lot of gas which did not bother her but strangely enough many people had left the waiting room while she was sitting there. The doctor examined her, gave her some medication, and asked her to report back in 3 days. She returned in 3 days, reporting that she was worse because now the gas smelt bad. "Very well" said the doctor, "now that your sinuses have cleared, I'll check your hearing." nono
