A number of women in my office are going on about
Hoodia. One lady, who has rheumatoid arthritis, is on it and says that it has picked her up out of the dumps and made her feel normal again (apparently a side effect of her arthritis medicine is lethargy). Another came dancing through here a minute ago, swearing that she loved it. Have no idea if it will work on her for weight loss, but she says she feels better and has more energy than she's been having.
It's mainly touted as an appetite suppressant, although it is supposed to help increase your energy levels, some people claim it is an aphrodesiac, and one web site I read said that it helps stomach cramps.
Since I value the opinions of the regulars on here better than most anyone else's opinion (I know no one on here would steer me into something that might tear up my stomach!), has anyone on here tried it, for any reason, and did it 1) mess up your stomach, and 2) do what you wanted it to do? I know there's a lot of fake supplements out there, but the ladies in the office seem to have a bead on one that is genuine. One website expressly states that it's not a stimulant like caffeine, which I can't tolerate.
While I learned to overeat before college, I think my 5 years of bad gall bladder, and of not eating when sick and eating everything in sight when I was feeling okay, has really led me to develop some bad habits towards eating: namely eating too much and when I'm not really hungry. The problem is, I have a hard time deciding if I'm hungry or not sometimes, and sometimes I can eat and eat and eat and never feel full (a lady at work heard that was the result of not having a gall bladder; somehow it messes up your signals so you eat too much or never enough). Anyways, if something could help take my mind off food (namely on the weekends) so that I could eat normal portions at mealtimes and nothing else, I think that would be beneficial, but of course, as always, I am so reluctant to try something that might mess up my guts. I wonder if anyone else has made themselves a guinea pig on this project?
