Hi,

I found a great snack to have in the afternoons......a bowl of carrots with a little ranch dressing.  Sounds good........but I began to realize that I would get upper abdomen cramps a few hours after eating them.....every time.   Why would that be??   They're so healthy.  I hope I can keep eating them.  Any ideas?

Hi Cathy,
Carrots are high in fiber.... Maybe you can't handle too much at 1 time. Raw fruits and veggies are also hard on the gut to digest... Again, maybe you could try eating a smaller amount. Or, maybe it's the Ranch. There are so many sugars and preservatives in salad dressing that maybe that is your cause of distress. Also trying a non-fat Ranch might help.

They are hard to digest raw for most people. They are not always chewed as well as they should.

Thanks guys!
I guess I can't get used to not being able to do and eat all that I used to, with no problems. I'll try dividing the carrots up into 2 snacks at different times. I guess 48 baby carrots at one sitting might be too much. hahahaha Just kidding!

Cathy,

A few carrots at a time is all I can do.  But, ranch dressing is a killer for me as it causes all kinds of "issues" with my abdomen.  I thought for a long time it was like the carrots and lettuce and stuff, but it turned out those weren't the issue.  it was the ranch dressing.  I have totally alleviated that from my diet.  I don't know what is in it that causes my problem but it is on my AVOID list.

Wow ocean........I had considered the ranch dressing, but since it has never given me trouble in the past, dismissed the idea without even trying to give it up. I'll need to try that. But Lil is right......there's a ton of chemicals in there, plus the high fat. So......I'll give it up and see what happens. Very interesting!
Thanks ocean!
