Hello out there,

Is anybody taking Amitiza?  I just started and it seems to work but I have indijestion and am sick to my stomach.  I can not find any side effect on the web.

     Help if you can.

     Thanks!

Hi judithatty,
Welcome to HealingWell!  :-)
I do not take Amitiza, however, I have read that it causes upset stomach.  How long have you been taking it?  Usually it takes about a week to get used to.

Here's a good site with brief info on it: about Amitiza

Here are a couple links to threads that have talked about Amitiza, maybe they will help:

Has anyone tried AMITIZA ?

Has anyone tried Amitiza yet?

Hopefully others will be around soon who have tried it and can give you some info.

Have you tried anything else?  How about Miralax?

I am on Amitiza.  It has worked well but not without side effects.  I suffer from nausea here and there.  My gastroendrocrinoligist said it can cause nausea and usually goes away within 3 days after taking it for the first time.  He told me it has to been with a meal everytime you take it and you should consume most if not all of you're meal before taking it.  I find it helps a lot.  If I get nauseated I eat something really small even a fruit popsickle in addition to my meal and it usually takes the nausea away.

What are you're symptoms?  What do you mean by indigestion?  Do you mean nausea, hunger, burping?  Also, it helps to drive something afters.  I drink an ice tea and that helps too.

I would be interested in exchanging info so we can help each other.
