I am on amoxycillan for a sinus infection. I have tried to eat plain yogurt and cultured milk and they taste awful. What can I do to help with that. I normally take one digestive advantage at night, should I take more? I am not having dihahrrea, but I am having cramping with a large amount of solid bowels moving to loose bowels every day. It lasts on and off for about an hour or a bit longer. I know its the meds, but I am looking for solutions to help this out. Thanks so much.

Hey there scared, how much longer do you have to take the amoxicillin?  If I were you I'd try some flavored yogurt with live and active cultures, like Dannon Activia maybe.  Also, a supplement with pure L. acidophilus and Bifidobacterium might help.  Digestive Advantage has sugar alcohols in it for some reason, and those can upset some stomachs.  I never understood that about DA.

I hope you start feeling better soon - from the cramping and your sinus infection!

I found that Greek yogurt tastes a lot different from regular yogurt (not as tart). You might try it.

A good probiotic daily is essential for IBSers even when not on any antibiotics...IBSers (along with IBDers) tend to have bacterial over-growth, antibiotics kill EVERYTHING and that leaves your system vulnerable as well...a good probiotic daily is a must.

Primadophilus Reuteri made by natures way is an excellent one, very affective, doesn't contain a bunch of dyes, artificial sweetners (like sugar alcohols), preservatives and such, just a little bit of potatoe starch for preservation...and it's got guaranteed intestinal release, aids with lactose intolerance, vaginal health and high cholesterol...any affordable, only one/day is needed.

:)
