Hi, I'm a newbie (and also just posted in the GERD forum! Yay!)

I've always had dodgy bowels, mainly due to nerves, but since December 2006, I've been really suffering. I had a bit of a stomach bug after Xmas and since then, I've had regular episodes of loose, yellow, stinky stools. I must have gone through boxes and boxes of diarreah tablets in the last 9 months, but my symptoms have always come back.

I went to the Doctor about it in February, but after a stool test, a dose of anti-biotics and a blood test, I got the famous IBS diagnosis. I've had that diagnosis millions of times, but I've never really believed it. I reckon it's easier for a Doctor to diagnose that instead of doing more tests. My Gran gets regular endoscopies, barium enemas and colonoscopies for her stomach and bowel problems and all I get is 'You've got IBS.' It sucks.

Anyway, touch wood, I've been OK for the last couple of weeks, so I'm hoping to stay that way from now on. I've tried to stay away from dairy products (I drink rice milk and eat soya margerine) which I think does some good, but I still wonder if I've got something other than IBS.

If anyone else has had similar symptoms to me, but hasn't got IBS, please let me know what you've got and maybe I can go back to my Doctor and ask them to test me for it!

Thanks for listening! Fingers crossed I do a solid poop in the morning! Haha!

Yellow stools is usually an indication of excess bile. This can commonly occur with gall bladder issues. There are a few members on this board that have/had gb issues that probably can speak more to it. Hopefully they will be on shortly to address.

My Doctor has never brought that up! You'd think they would have done if it's quite likely to be that wouldn't you? I'll have to go back and ask them why they didn't bring it up.
