Husband in stage three kidney damage.  This morning he saw blood in urine and were spots on his shorts.  He refused to go the the doctor, said he is through with medicines and treatment.  What is this a sign of, and how do I threaten him enough to see the doctor.

I get tired of going to the Dr.'s too and the meds (especially my bff prednisone). However, I know that if I let things slide I can be in a much worse situation. Maybe it's just a urinary tract infection (I just had one recently) and it was taken care of in just a few days with cipro, no side effects and feel great. But if I didn't go, it would have gotten much worse.
Ulcerative Colitis (Pancolitis): dx'd 2000; Imuran 200mg a day. Pred taper 40mg over the next 6 weeks from March 7.
Kidney Disease (Minimal Change Disease): dx'd 2007 but believe I had it since 2000 from the sulfasalzine I was on (cannot take any 5ASA's). 20mg Lisinopril 1xday, Diovan 160mg 2xday, Lipitor 40mg 1xday, Calcium 1200mg 1xday, Vit D 400mg 1xday, Calcitriol .025mcg 1xday + vitamin

I am hoping it is no more than a kidney infection.  He is a bad diabetic and has heart problems so every thing that comes up I get an almost panic attack.  The stress from all of the worry is really setting off my anxiety problems.

the mental stuff we go through almost seems worse sometimes.  It is hard to watch a loved one in pain and not be able to help.  I just keep on trying to find a new perspective to help me deal (my Mom has physical and mental disabilites and I have guardianship over her).

Hey there!! the spots on shorts, was it urine or blood? Also, blood in urine can be serious. When he urinated, was it a stream of blood? Red or brownish? A light tinge to the change of color or a coke or even red color??

The spots were definately urine with blood, they were a pink color.  The water in the bowl was ok i think.  He didn't tell me until after he flushed.
He has so many other issues at this time that he refused to add another doctor right now.  He goes to his endocronologist on Monday.  Hopefully I can work this in our conversation.
