I just recently got out of the hospital from having a kidney stone removed and I was just wondering if it is normal to still have pain like the pain I endured before being admitted? I'm 16 years old and o don't drink much soda but I live in south alabama so I like my sweet tea but I usually drink water and I don't eat lots of green veggies. I don't have a family history of kidney stones, so I'm also wondering where they are coming from?? I have 2 more that are still in my kidneys so are they causing the pain I'm feeling now or what?

You didn't say how the stone was removed or if a stent was placed - if placed, the stent could be the source of the pain? You didn't say the size of the other stones or if they could be moving or "stuck" in place. (its usually when they move that you have pain - so, yes, your pain could be from the stones.)

Hey there...I also have been having kidney stone problems...I had one last year that was obstructing but it came out on its own...I was in the ER a few weeks ago and found out I have several more in both kidneys so I am wondering the same as you Bookworm13...you are so young!! They say mine are small enough to pass...do they make you feel sick like you have the flu? Sometimes I feel like that after I get a really sharp pain like there has been movement...

I don't exactly know how. They said they went in and broke it up with a laser and like sucked it out or something. They didn't put a stint. But the stone that was removed was 6 mm I think? The others are supposed to be small right now. But I never had flu-like symptoms, though when I had to leave school and go to the doctor for the pain, I did vomit a little. I don't know why. But I do have sharp pains on the right side of my lower back from time to time so I'm assuming that it's just movement.

Most of the time when I get kidney stones, I get an aggitated, aggrevated type pain. The kind of pain that will not let you rest, sit down, lay down, etc etc. There have been times that I vomited but I do not remember any "flu" type symptoms. But, I am a firm believer that everyone experiences pain differently and this may be your way. I can imagine that if you feel nausous and crummy and are vomiting and do not have real pain then you could almost interpret it as having "flu" like symptoms.

hope this helps

Hey guys...so I have several stones in each kidney...they say they will pass on there own so in the mean time I sit like a ticking time bomb...lately I am getting alot of back pain more so then pain in the front. Do you guys think it could still be the stones moving? I wish I could get rid of them. I don't have insurance so I limit myself to having severe pain to go to the hospital. Is it true they may never come out? That they may live in there forever???
