So the phone rang yesterday and I answered to voice of my nephrologist. Now, my nephrologist, like so many doctors, tells me he'll call if something comes back abnormal. He's never called...until yesterday.

I have high levels of protein, very high levels of uric acid and my sodium levels are off the charts!

He wants me to change my diet, but leave my meds the way they are for now. I'm also supposed to ask my rheumatologist if I can take this other med. It's alo---something or another. (I can't remember. Having issues with my brain functioning today, hehe.)

Has anyone else had to deal with this? What was the result? My doc is trying to figure out what could be causing this. He keeps telling me if I want, he can do an ultrasound. Um, I think you're awesome and all, I typically love your laid back attitude, but right now, I need you to tell me what to do...not ask if I want tests run.

Any info would be great!

So I called him back and told him that with some of the symptoms I've been having over the last two weeks that aren't explained by the autoimmune diseases, I need to get more tests run. The nephrologist told me good because he had reserved some time for me. He was just waiting for me to get used to the idea that my kidneys have gotten worse before he called me back to tell me what tests are being run.

So tomorrow I go in and have an ultrasound, and some bloodwork. Hopefully we'll have answers soon.

have you been diagnosed with Kidney disease, have you had a kidney biopsy? What meds are you on now?
UC Pancolitis: dx'd 2000; Remicade since 4/25/11, every 8 weeks. Kidney Disease (Minimal Change Disease): dx'd 2007 caused by 5ASA's (thank you sulfsalazine, lialda and asacol). Current meds: Remicade & prenatal vitamin. I feel better than I have in years being off the ton of medication I was on before.

I'm currently on Potassium Citrate and that's it. I haven't had a kidney biopsy.

I was diagnosed with Kidney Disease several years ago. I've had trace amounts of protein in my urine for the last 4 tests (I had them every 6 months). I also regularly pass kidney stones. I've passed as many as 36 in one day. (That's why I am taking potassium citrate.)
