Hi, I'm new to this site. Didn't know where else to turn. I'm 23 years old and just today I got diagnosed with kidney stones. I've been having a pain in my right flank area since yesterday. I couldn't sleep at all due to how uncomfortable it was. Even hydrocodone wouldn't subdue the pain I had. So I went in to see a minor emergency care clinic and he said due to a small amount of blood in my urine, the pain, and the nausea I had he told me its kidney stones. I asked if I had an infection as well and he said he didn't find anything of the sort. The reason I panicked over all this earlier is because when I was 18 I was diagnosed with PKD (polystistic kidney disease. I have cysts on my kidneys) and thought my kidneys were shutting down or my cysts were all popping. The Dr at the clinic said he did not want to send me for a ct yet because if it shows I do have stones my treatment wouldn't change and I told him I'm a bit tight on my finances (I'm still paying off my gallbladder surgery I had this time last year). I guess what I want to know is if anyone has gone through this, I have not met anyone with PKD yet. It's scary, and since I'm adopted I don't know my family's medical history. I was at a healthy weight but since being on the depo shot for cysts on my ovaries I've gained weight, not sure if that's a contributing factor.
