Im new here but unfortunately I new I would find others going through the same thing. My mom has cirrhosis as well as kidney disease she has been going to dialysis for alittle more then a year now, after the in & out hospital stays she finally seemed to be somewhat straightened out I guess as much as she was gonna be, she was driving some again then after about a year she had an episode with high amonia levels, shes had a couple more and now she just came home from a 3day stay and Im certain Ill be taking her back there soon, she really isnt any better at this point shes experiencing confusion, disoriented, has the shakes, can't sleep even though she is extremely tired and forgetful. Just a short while ago the phone rang and I guess she tried to get out of her bed to answer it and I heard the worst noise, I froze for a few seconds because I knew she had fell, I went in her room and there she was laying on the floor on her stomach, she had fell onto a table, which broke the 3 legs and half of the things on it, somehow her sprite ended up all down her backside, my daughter helped to get her up on the bed and already there was a knot on her forehead, we are headed to the hospital because thats what her doctor suggested...again but I don't know what else we could do, she gets where she will lie about taking the lactulose because she hates it and the effects, she has been on the xifaxan daily but when her amonia levels are really high she needs to be in the hospital because they can get the lactulose down her, but the first sign of levels going down any and they send her home. I have searched so many topics on this disease and tried to educate myself some but I don't know whats coming next, is it going to be a good week, month, or not????  I just cant imagine the worst, and I don't think I will ever get used to the idea that my mom is this sick, Ive tried but..... confused
