My son is now 15, when he was 13 they discovered a 6mm kidney stone in his right kidney. We saw a urologist who ordered the renal scan to see if there was a UPJ. The renal scan came back that everything was fine, so we scheduled to have a lithotripsy done to shrink the stone. Six months later we do an ultra sound and now there is a 10mm kidney stone. The urologist then schedules a laser litho going through the kidney. While he is doing this procedure he does see a UPJ so we schedule to have the surgery to remove the UPJ. In the meantime my son would have a neph tube to help the kidney drain. Surgery was done in April we have a follow up the end of this month with the urologist. He recently had a CT scan done for something totally unrelated and the right kidney is still showing moderate hydronephrosis, will the kidney heal itself or will he always have this?
Thank you so much,
