Hello, I am a 30 year old male with ckd and I'm desperately searching for a way out of this without having to eventually do dialysis or a transplant where I will have to be on immune supressing drugs for the rest of my life. I am very curious about all these claims of stem cell treatments that claim to be able to potentially reverse ckd an other issues. I know there are probably a lot out there that are bunk and just preying on the desperate. But does anybody know of or have you heard of a legitimate one that is successful. It's hard to find any info online about it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

From my understanding so far this technology involving stem cells and kidney function is not ready for human consumption... What tests have been done on animals do show some inhibition of cyst production but little to no regeneration of dead gomerules (sp.?), and of course only works certain types of CKD, those due to certain causes. Seems to me like it could work theoretically but the process would have to be repeated over and over to where that exceeds the usefulness.

There are several other promising technologies in the works (it's a long process to get stuff tested and legal) and much of what you can do for yourself now depends on things like your GFR and symptoms, type of disorder, and estimated kidney function remaining. Just Google "stem cell kidney" and avoid all the websites where you get a "live chat" popup, if you want to read more about it. I'm just a little further down the same road you're traveling, if I can help any more let me know.
