I apologize ahead of time if this is not the right place to post this Q, I'm just looking for some advice.
I could really use some advice from some people with more knowledge and experience than me. I cannot reach my doctor right now, and have left a message for a call back asap but they're always so busy at my clinic and I'm sitting here totally freaking out.
I am a 29year old woman with a history of heavy alcoholism. (I have been sober since 4.11.15)
I was recently hospitalized for blood in my vomit. The doctor found and banded a verice through an endoscopy, and I was put onto a ton of IV fluids and 3 units of blood, albumin, some antibiotics and released after a 4 day stay.
I was diagnosed with Acute Tubular Necrosis and have several follow-ups scheduled with specialists and my GP. I was admitted with a creatinine level of 2.0 which rose to 2.2, then plateaued, and dropped to 1.9 which is the level at which I was when discharged 07.25.15. I was told that the number should slowly creep back down, and that the hospital team did not expect that it should go back up.
I got blood done yesterday and a call back voicemail from my GP today stated that my level had gone back up to 2.0.
I have gained 20lbs because of water retention from all of the saline, and have been following orders to stay hydrated and exercise, and have been slowly combating this gain. My GP put me on half a 25mg pill of spironolactone daily which I start today.
So my question is, is this elevation in creatinine a sign that I am not getting better but in fact worse?? My team of docs @ the hospital when I stayed painted this picture that this level should not come back up, that after it plateaus and begins to fall that is a good sign, and kind of eleduded (maybe I read too much into it) that if it went back up that it was a) unexpected and b) not a good sign.
I am so stressed out right now and I don't know what to do because I can't even get in touch with my GP! I am sooooo worried and panicked and I would like to know if creatinine can jump up and down as it overall lowers or is this return to elevation a sign that it will continue to go up??
I have been trying so hard to stay positive and this new news has really sent me into an emotional spiral. I can't stop crying and googling, and I could really use some advice/info from some people that know more than I do.
Forgive the long post and thanks for any help
